10 Little Joyful Thangs Worth Celebrating!

At this stage in my life, I am into having fun. Girl, I am getting no younger, so grabbing the bull by his horns is my new thang. :) #nopunintended.

Today’s look is simple: overdone lips, blue eyeshadow, and a colorful hat hiding this bad hair day I’m currently sporting. Yep, ya girl is looking like a whole train wreck right now, and honestly, I’m celebrating it.

I’m learning to notice all the tiny things in my life that still bring joy, even on the chaotic days.

Life has been moving fast lately. My schedule has been on rush and go, and ever since I added a few more things to my daily tasks.

I’ve been waking up with that same “let’s get it” energy. Who else can relate to having 10,000 things to do before the 8 AM alarm even buzzes? #meme

Yesterday, I slid my planner out of the side drawer and started reflecting on this week’s little joys, the ones I almost overlooked, but needed to stop and thank God I made it another day.

Because honestly, with everything going on in the world, it’s tough to find things to celebrate. But I’m realizing it’s the small moments that actually carry the most weight. And at this age and stage of my life, I want to be the change I wish I could see, even if that’s just inside my home, at my job, or in my circle of friends.

I told a group of kids at a bracelet-making seminar last year something I had to repeat to myself recently: living life is one thing, but expecting big things in life is another. If making jewelry is your passion, go write the plan and make it happen. And for me, having just one simple hobby outside of being a mom, wife, coworker, friend, finance lady, cook, and everything else under the sun brings me more joy than people realize.

Most folks never slow down long enough to smell the roses, let alone celebrate the little joys that pop up throughout the week. But those little bits in my life, they keep me steady. So here are ten small thangs that brought me joy this week. It’s nothing fancy, but its meaningful to me. And yes, I usually document from Thursday to Thursday but,  chile I done fell off.  Oh but don’t fret yet. I do have something to show yall later. #staytuned Now let’s get into my little tens #hehe :)

My 10 Little Joyful Thangs

1. Thrift Snooping Time
I finally made it to the thrift store this weekend and found some cute jewelry and little apartment decorations. Nothing major, but after a long work week, browsing and bopping around felt refreshing.

2. Celebrating My Girls
Three of my daughters have finished college, and they’re working good jobs. My youngest, Moriah, is wrapping up 8th  grade this year. Watching my girls excel brings me a deep kind of joy.

3. My Dream Journal Got a New Entry
I added a new note to my “dreams happening” journal. Trust me, that little book stays close because I have things to say, things to build, and things to celebrate.

4. Speaking to More Strangers (in a Good Way)
I made it a mission to smile more and speak first when someone makes eye contact. Little things like “Good morning,” “Hi, how are you doing?” and “Have a blessed day” have changed my mood more than I expected. #realtalk

5. Texting My Husband Back
Listen… ya girl is terrible at texting. But I’ve been responding more, and the conversations have felt like those early dating days again, a small but sweet milestone for two people with opposite schedules. #spicytalk :)

6. Four Loaded Tacos & Zero Guilt
I cooked tacos and nachos this week and ate four loaded tacos with a bowl of nachos on the side. And no, I do not feel bad. I’m enjoying my life, period.

7. Twenty Minutes of Bestie Gossip
A little harmless gossip with my best friend is a blessing. Twenty minutes of laughing, venting, and talking trash in love is all we have time for these days.

8. Logging Off From Work Early
I logged early two days last week. I’m finally learning not to overbook myself. Because money is useless if I’m exhausted and missing out on real life with my loved ones.

9. A Social Media Detox Weekend
I took the whole weekend off social media and didn’t miss a thing. I love posting motivation, but I also love my me time, talking to real people, and letting my mind rest.

10. Wearing a Baby Doll Dress Again
For the first time in years, I wore a baby doll dress that showed my knees. Yes, that is a small act, but it brought a big smile to my face. Joy really does hide in the simple things.

In Conclusion

I’m a black woman who has lived through good days, bad days, fear, and anxiety about the unknown. But I’m learning to live intentionally and celebrate joy as it comes, whether big or tiny. I stopped waiting for something “major” to happen and started recognizing what was already happening around me.

And once I started doing that? I’ve felt lighter. Freer. Happier.

These were my ten little joyful thangs worth celebrating this week.
Now I’ll ask you — what brought you joy?
Yesterday, last night, this morning? No moment is too small.

Until next time,
Live Life Beyond Existing
