Hey friend,
I wrote this post back in 2020. Sometimes I like to go back and reread different chapters of my life to make sure I'm still on track with what I know God has called me to do.
Now, I was blonde back then, and besides my hair being pink these days, I'm still on track.
I'm only half joking. With so much going on in the world around us, it's important for me to check in with myself every now and then and make sure I'm living intentionally. It's easy to spend years, even decades, following someone else's blueprint, no matter who that someone else may be.
My POV: The road to living a life beyond simply existing isn't linear, and a life worth living is definitely not one-size-fits-all. Sometimes we move forward. Sometimes we wander off course. Sometimes we find ourselves right back where we started, only wiser.
So yeah, that's my little tidbit for today. Now let's get back down the road and revisit what my 2020 self had to say.
Who knew there could be joy in being lazy? Ok, I must admit
I have known this for a bit now. Once, I realized being a couch potato for a day was not me being lazy in the wrong way. But I look at having a lazy do-nothing day as a means of fulfilling my own personal joy. Yes, it's true doing nothing for a day really does give me high levels of joy.
You see, I am a person who thinks I must be busy at all times. It goes a little something like this, working, working being a wife, mother, and helping others. And trust me those are all great things to do. But as I am getting older, I am learning to put myself first on one or two days out the week. And nope, I do not feel guilty one bit. Oh, and honey, I suggest you start placing yourself first in line sometimes. Because if you don't, no one else will, and I will also admit it feels good to be ahead of the class sometimes.
First, I must admit I have been working on a secret project that will be dropping in about 45 more days
So, in the meantime, all my downtime has been all bout making arm candy for my family and friends. With so many events and birthdays coming up in 2020. I am trying to get ahead of the game by making bracelets. This may sound funny, but making jewelry brings me so much joy; I can not explain it. That is why I make time to make my handmade pieces come to life.
Side Note: It is vital to pencil in a lazy day to do what makes you feel good on the inside. And if that day consists of doing nothing, then, in reality, YOU are doing what you really want to do. #NOTHING
Another thing that brings me joy is having my coffee in a fancy-looking cup, like a donut cup or something that looks goofy. I found my cup pictured above from my favorite store, Urban Outfitters. Yes, I am a true urban gal, and I have collected every wacky cup they sell. And I love collecting good-smelling coffee, such as Community Mardi Gras Blend and their new Sugar Dusted Beignet flavors. I think it is the smell and the aroma that sets my soul on fire. Either way, I find it calming and relaxing when I am experiencing my right to be lazy.
My second thing is finding a good book, magazine, or movie to watch. This week I am finishing up The Art of More for Less. My goal this year is to be more of a Savvy Chic, and this book listed above shares all the tea. This year, I have learned how to look fab by spending less money. One thing I have learned about style,
I can't wear everything I see online or hanging in a store window. Last year I started cleaning out my closet and tossing out everything that did not fit my style. I tossed out a lot of stuff that just did not make sense in my wardrobe anymore. That is why the Savvy Chic book is number one on my lazy day list.
Last but not least, I love the 7-day mask for my weekly face detoxing. Last week I did the bubble mask, and this week I am using the lemon mask. I must admit, hands down. I love this brand because I can feel the difference after each use.
There you have it, all the things that gave me lots of joy this week.
In conclusion: I know to many this may seem mundane, but joy can be found in the smallest things.
What is bringing you joy today?
Until Next Time Here's To Living A Life Beyond Existing!
