48 Hours In New York: Visiting The Apollo: Trying Milk Bar And A Quick Thrift!
So, a few back, I was invited to attend an event at the Apollo Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. Let's just say this was a quick turnaround business trip. But, you already know I was not going near, over, or around New York without venturing into some other things to do.
First things first: Why was I in New York? Is this where I insert the Jay-Z song, New York Empire State Of Mind?
Being a small business owner has a few perks. One is getting invited to entrepreneurial events. This one was put on by Daymond John from Shark Tank, who also owns the name and rights to his brand, FUBU. The invite came through my business portal, and of course, I said yes.
And the rest is history. Unfortunately, the hubs couldn't take off from work, so, I took my oldest daughter as my plus one. And I am so glad I did because she knew how to navigate our LYFT rides and other things.
The first night was filled with getting ready for the event at The Apollo Theatre, in which I was so excited. Did I mention this place was more beautiful than anything I could imagine? It was an experience worth documenting. Although I was in town to learn something for my business, I couldn't help but take in all the nostalgia the big city had to offer. I had the chance to hear stories from Whoopi Goldberg, Cedric The Entertainer, and more. The gems that were dropped at this event were priceless.
After the Apollo, we went with some new found city friends to a Funky Retro Hole in The Wall, that didn't disappoint in Brooklyn, New York.
Can you believe I devoured an entire plate of shrimp, Lobster, Crab Cakes, and a juicy buttery Steak? I am almost ashamed to admit that, but honey, who watches calories when they travel? Not me, of course:)
Since my flight was due to depart late the next day, my daughter and I decided to pack our belongings and explore the city. And wow, there was so much food, fun, and things to do. I can see why so many people want to move to New York. It really does feel like the city of dreams.

I am a determined gal, so I was able to visit a few places that were on my bucket list. One was the Milk Bar, and I ate the of their famous mil bar pie slices. Ya'll, I honestly tried to save some to bring home, but I had to do it for my sugar tooth.
I can not put into words how yummy all the things we ate in New York were so good. One thing I got a chance to do was thrift. I walked every corner looking for clothes, shoes, and jewelry. I will show my findings in another post. Can you guess what I bought back to Texas? Was it clothes or jewelry?
In conclusion, I am a believer that New York is the city of Dreams. I got to meet so many new people and eat some amazing food. But the experience of doing it in 48 hours was not enough time. So, stay tuned; I will be going back. It was the best time in my life, and definitely worth documenting every second of it.
Question Of The Day: Have you visited New York Before? Please Share:)
Once again, at this point in my life, I learned to breathe in and out by enjoying every inch of my life.
So, here's to enjoying life beyond existing!
