Being 50-Something: Let's Just Relax - Doing Nothing Is Doing Something!

What's holding you back from relaxing? No, seriously, is it work, family, friends, or the dog next door?

Those are the questions I ask myself daily; well, I used to. I no longer do that because I wake up everyday and ask myself: What can I do today to make myself happy? That may sound vain, but nope, it's not. I have to put myself in a good mood so I can be happy and around other people.

In life, I am learning to put myself first so I can give the best version of myself.

At 50-something, I am just learning how to relax and wiggle my feathers.

I have no intention of spending the rest of my life not enjoying life. And here's what I mean by that statement. When I was younger, I thought having lots of friends, jumping jets, and going to parties was the best life. And it was, but over time, staying up late and hanging out got boring. Do you know why? We all grew up, and when looking back, we all wasted a lot of time.

Some of my friends got married, went to prison, or moved away from our hometown. It was later in life when I realized I should have slowed down and enjoyed the moments I had. Yep, you live, and you learn. Now that I am 50-something, I do not play with my time or my space.

I am learning to relax and not be so busy or overworking myself. No matter what anyone says, prioritizing my own personal peace and joy is vital to being happy.

I embrace those small moments that ultimately turn into small memories. At this point in life, doing nothing is doing something: relaxing, enjoying that time with the ones you love, eating good food, dancing, laughing, and just having fun. That is doing something, and that is how you enjoy life. And yes, it's that simple!

So here's to living beyond existing:)
