More on that later :)
Blah Blah Blah, it rained every single day we were in California, Lol (but we made it magical and enjoyable for ourselves.
Burbank is just north of Los Angeles and offers the perfect blend of junk food, thrilling theme park fun, and a touch of Hollywood scenery. But, honestly, we chose California so we could visit Hollywood Studios.
So, join me on a photo diary dump of our anniversary escapades in Burbank!
Our adventure began when we landed at LAX. Stepping out of the airport felt like stepping into the winter of Texas; it was shivering cold and raining.
Umm, I thought Snoop Dogg, the rapper, said it never rains in Sunny California.
But I was still excited to be in a new place that I've wanted to visit for years. So, shoutout to all the hard work my daughters did to pull our anniversary off.
Here is a quick photo dump of the things we did in Burbank, California.
First, we checked into our wonder hotel at the Annabell Coast. It was cozy and relaxing, just what we needed.
Our first trip was to visit Universal City Walk, and it was magical. Although it was raining cats and dogs, we nestled into Bubba Gump, where we enjoyed shrimp overload lots of garlic bread.
And No California trip is complete without a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood, right? We screamed our way through rollercoasters like the thrilling Jurassic World – We enjoyed laughing at the mischievous Minions, and we got lost in the immersive Wizarding World of Harry Potter. By the way, Harry Potter World was my favorite. We tried butter beer, and now I want to make that drink at home.
Fun Fact: Rico thought butter beer was actual beer.
I must admit all we did was eat and sleep. At this point in life, I believe you are never too old to have fun in life. At first, I didn't want to leave my girls while I left home to twirl in the big city of California.
But, after that first night of being away, I realized they could handle things without us. All jokes aside, they are grown, and we only have one 12-year-old who is spoiled by all her siblings. My oldest helped monitor everyone getting to work and school. It was marvelous to have them do it together so Rico and I could get away.
I guess I am used to doing things as a family. But life as I know it has changed; the girls work, and now I am learning to do things as a married couple and alone. I guess it is ok, but it is an adjustment that I must learn to get used to.
Yeah, life is blooming in another area, and I am bracing myself for the ride.
Burbank, California, was a breath of fresh air; it was fun, relaxing, and overwhelming at times. I got to see homes built right into the hills and valley of Cali. I got to do my favorite thing in the whole world: THRIFT! Yep, the hubs made sure I went to all the local thrift stores in Burbank.
I must insert it was very expensive but I found myself a few good gems.
Although it rained every day, I went for the food, adventure, and fun, and I got a chance to do it all. Therefore, California owes us nothing, and I can officially scratch this adventure off my bucket list! Happy Anniversary to us:)
Here's to living beyond existing:)
