Afternoon Routine: Coffee Alone Thinking!

Afternoon Routine: Coffee Alone Thinking! Tangie Bell Blog

                                                 Afternoon Routine: Coffee Alone Thinking!

Wait, I just heard a pin drop. Oh no, I didn't. I'm home alone, and it feels so dang gone good because it's January 9, 2024, and everyone is either at work or at school.

No more Mom this, Mom that, and I've even set my phone to airplane mode. And you know, when a woman turns that phone off, it can only mean one thing: Please do not disturb me. :)

Do you know why? Since no one asked, I am just going to tell you anyway. No pun intended, but sometimes a gal just has to take her peace into her own hands. I have discovered over these last few years having peace in my life is not giving; It is taking. Yep, I said that if I want to have a quiet day, drink coffee, watch a movie, or read a funky book. I must do the things needed for me to unwind.

My morning was very chaotic because this was the first day back to school and work for my family since the Christmas holidays. During that holiday season, I did a bit of ripping and running with my family. Although it was a fun thing to do, I never sat down and took a real quiet-me-moment break.

Of course, I know I am and was not the only woman in the world cooking big meals and entertaining family and friends. I'm just happy to be documenting it so I can see what I am doing in my latter years of life.

So, this morning, I spent time making breakfast and getting everyone, even the hubby (Rico), off to work. For the first two hours, I spent handmaking new denim bags to list in my online boutique. Then, I cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms before taking a calming hot bath.

Before I knew it 12, 00 in the afternoon was catching up with me. Oh dear, it's almost time for everyone to come home in a couple more hours.

Now that I have done my skincare, house duties, etc. I do not care it's noon time I am going to put myself a pot of coffee on and read a small inspirational book.

My coffee choice of today is a freshly brewed I-Hop buttery syrup flavor with caramel and marshmallow foam on top.

My book choice is one of my all-time favorites. ( D-Good Advice) it's a small read, but it's a motivational book that inspires you to think outside your comfort zone. I will give no spoilers, but it's a must-have for me to sit and read one page a day. Seriously, one page because I am going to cuddle up on my sofa and watch a movie or two. I want to sit and think about the next chess move in life  I need to make toward the goals I want to fulfill, if any.

Although I may sound super nova intense, what I am saying makes all the sense to me in my own little world.

Sitting down and being calm has caused me to think and re-think about the things I will be doing throughout 2024 and beyond.

My afternoon routine is so simple now, and I am loving it. Back in the day I used to be all busy and acting like a hostess with the mostess.

Now, when I have free time, my afternoon routine really is all about me gathering my thoughts and mind together and thinking out loud while drinking my favorite coffee.

Life is just that simple, and I am choosing to enjoy the simplicity of it all.

Lastly: So, the next time you find yourself in the throes of an afternoon slump, don't reach for another to-do list. Instead, brew a pot of coffee, find your quiet corner, and let the thoughts flow. You might just surprise yourself with what you discover in the stillness.

Cheers to the afternoon coffee ritual, a simple pleasure that nourishes the soul and sparks the mind.

I hope this diary post resonated with you and inspired you to create your own afternoon coffee routine. Remember, it's not about how fancy the coffee is or how grand the setting is at home. It's about carving out that time for yourself, to connect with your thoughts and simply be present in the moment. So join me in going forward, brew a cup, and let the afternoon unfold its magic.
